Kou Chou Ching is an innovative genre-blending musical act, bringing together traditional
elements of Taiwanese opera, southern Chinese classical, Hakka eight notes, and aboriginal
folk song with contemporary hip-hop, reggae and more. The result is a fresh, exciting
sound that is uniquely Taiwanese. You can hear their music and read more about the band

The band is coming through New York on their way to the Just Plain Folks Music Awards in Tennessee, where they’ve been nominated for multiple awards. Fortunately we get to catch them along the way, and we hope you will join us for this opportunity to hear their music.

We are excited for this opportunity, but at the same time wish to keep in mind the recent devastation in Taiwan caused by Typhoon Morakot. In light of these tragic events, we will be accepting donations to be used in relief efforts, and the band will sell CDs of their music and donate the profits as well. Together we can at once show our support for the difficulties many are currently experiencing while enjoying this occasion for cultural exchange.
